Ferran was formed by New York City-based designer and creative director Kathryn Ferran Kayajan. A
former architectural designer, Kathryn attended the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and
Parsons School of Design in New York. She then worked professionally for the esteemed architectural
firm Gensler. Inspired by the creative process, she formed Ferran.
Ferran textiles was created in a fortuitous way, born out of a collaboration years ago. Ferran was
originally launched as an accessories company and after consulting with Lilly Pulitzer for a few seasons,
Kathryn was able to learn about pattern making and surface design. Coupled with her background in art,
architecture and design, it was an organic evolvement creating patterns for the Ferran home collection
and into the textile and wallpaper company it is today.
Original. Colorful. Modern. Unique. Inspired. These are all hallmarks of the Ferran brand. All Ferran
textile collections hand painted designs are inspired from and named after Kathryn's travels around the
world. Getting to know the history, culture, and people of a region firsthand sparks a creative impulse
for her. Patterns are imagined from places and cultures with a hint to the past. This global influence,
combined with her artisan sensibility, gives Ferran textiles its uniquely relaxed but classic style.
